General Design Suggestions

  • Make sure graphics and images add value to your Web page.
  • Make sure you do not add anything in the content body wider than 525 pixels for a one-column layout template. If you need to display something wider, display it in a new window.
  • Keep file sizes of graphics as small as possible for quick loading.
  • If a .gif file is used, "interlaced" it for improved viewing where possible.
  • Always include the width and height specifications for each reference of a graphic to speed loading.
  • Always include a description using the "alt and title text" parameter for the image.
  • Check that you have copyrights to any graphics or images you use.
