All Web pages that pass confidential or secure data such as passwords or personnel information MUST use a secure connection. Assistance with implementation of secure connection technology on any COE Web site page should be coordinated through Engineering Network Services.
The collecting of and storage of confidential personnel information is strictly prohibited by any unofficial web site, web page, and/or web server hosted on any computer system within the COE network. Please refer to the "Unofficial Websites" section for more information.
Web site Access and Security
A system of permissions has been adopted and will be used to protect the security of the college's Web site.
Those with full permissions to administer the Web site will be limited and will be designated by the College of Engineering Office of Communications and Marketing as necessary to maintain the Web site. Permissions for Web department contacts will be limited to their areas of responsibility on the Web site. Permissions to author on the Web site will be given by the Web site administrator.
All employees with full or limited permissions to the college Web site are responsible for taking all reasonable precautions to protect both the public and developmental Web site areas from vandalism, hacking and accidental alteration. This includes not sharing computer account information or passwords with others at the college and carefully monitoring access to personal computers in shared work areas.
The use of outside consultants must be approved by the Web site administrator and the Dean of the college. Consultants must sign a document agreeing to comply with the college's Web policy.
