Authoring of College Web Pages

One person will be designated by each department or unit to be primarily responsible for the Web pages pertaining to it. This person will be designated as a "department Web contact."  Additional Web page contributors within the department or unit's may help build, add to, maintain and/or update that department or unit's Web pages, but the department Web contact will be responsible for checking materials for accuracy and conformance with Web standards, and for working with the Web site administrator and Web site editor prior to publication on the site.

Web Site Administrator
The Web site administrator is responsible for the overall management of the college's Web site. This responsibility includes establishment and oversight of web policies, guidance of present and future web activities,  (Killian/Cobb)

Webmaster
The Webmaster is responsible for the day-to-day management of the college's Web site.  This responsibility includes but is not limited to establishing the publishing, editing and writing access rights to Web page contributors, development, implementation and maintenance of official COE templates and web pages, development and maintenance of online applications, provide consultation of current web standards and practices, etc.

Web Site Publisher
The Web site publisher serves as the final Web page editor. As the overseer of the publication of Web pages, the Web site publisher is granted access to all college and/or departmental/unit Web pages. No information will be changed unless it represents an emergency, or a department/unit requests the Web site publisher change information. Every attempt will be made to first contact any department and/or unit before making any emergency changes to information. The department and/or unit will be fully and promptly notified of any use of this emergency access. (Killian/Cobb)

Web Site Editor
The Web site editor ensures that all content represents the best interests of the college. The editor has the authority to edit and rewrite submitted materials for grammatical corrections, length, tone, etc.

The Web site editor reviews the content and approves or declines it. The editor is also responsible for checking materials for grammatical errors, consent issues, clarity, tone, length, pertinence and accuracy. (Communications and Marketing Copywriting Team)

Web Site Writer
The Web site writer creates articles and Web pages. Any college faculty, staff or student could serve as a writer. Writers are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of information appearing on or linked to the home pages for which they are officially responsible. Web site writers will be responsible for keeping their material reasonably current, and they will be expected to report significant changes to the college's Web site publisher. (Dept.
