Robert L. Pigford Chair of Chemical Engineering and professor of chemistry and
biochemistry
University of Delaware
Biography
Barteau currently serves as the senior vice provost for research and strategic initiatives at the University of Delaware. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, as well as master's and doctoral degrees from Stanford University. Barteau has received numerous honors, including an election to the National Academy of Engineering. He was named one of the "100 Chemical Engineers of the Modern Era" by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Abstract
Lessons Learned from Catalyst Design
Barteau will present challenges that researchers face when attempting to design
better catalysts from a molecular-level. He will describe the methodology used
to combat these challenges by focusing on reactions where selectivity is the overriding
consideration.
