Biography

Stallings received a doctorate in physics from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. He joined Physics International Company and carried out research on intense electron beams, high temperature plasmas, implosion physics, pulsed power and radiation interaction with materials. Stallings was granted three patents and has authored over 50 journal articles and proceedings. He attended the Stanford University Executive Institute on Managing Technology and Innovation and the MIT/Cal Tech Institute on Managing Innovative People. In 1998 he was appointed general manager of Maxwell Physics International and managed 90 percent of the private pulsed power research in the United States. He retired in February 2001.

Pulsed Power - Electrical Engineering plus Physics and now Some Biology
Pulsed Power is a subset of Electrical Engineering where the voltages and currents stress dielectrics and other components to and beyond their normally accepted limits. In his talk, Stallings will give an introduction to pulsed power and then cover six unique applications varying from material processing using high energy particles to use of pulsed electric field in biology and medical science.
