Seminar to look at energy trading

Sevin Sozer will present the seminar, "Southern Company Trading Floor: Optimizing a Power System," on Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. in 3210 Shelby Center. She will give an overview of the trading floor and portfolio management department, and discuss current projects in Southern Company's technical support to energy trading, fleet operations and wholesale energy teams.

Sozer received bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial engineering from Galatasaray University, Turkey and a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering from Auburn in 2006. Currently, she works with Southern Company's Generation Services as a portfolio engineer, where she is responsible for creating and utilizing in-house engineering and financial models that forecast cost and market prices, recommend new products and assess various risks.
