E-Day 2005 a Big Success
Nearly two thousand potential engineering students visited the AU campus on February
25
th for the annual E-Day engineering recruiting event. BSEN students and faculty
worked hard to have a highly visible presence at the event. Their displays inside
the Foy Union included exciting hands-on exhibits for bio-energy, food engineering,
GPS and other geospatial technologies, ecological engineering, and forest engineering.
Prospective students were really excited about the outdoor exhibit on aquacultural
engineering that was assembled with the help of the Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture
Department and BSEN students and staff. Students observed first hand how engineering
principles are critical in the production of fish through aeration and waste removal
using biofiltration. Also on the union lawn, students interested in off-highway
vehicles enjoyed seeing a Caterpillar 525 wheeled skidder that was provided Thompson
Tractor, of Montgomery. We are grateful to our students and friends for helping
us with the single most important recruiting event for BSEN.
