Doctoral students spend years completing coursework and research to earn their degrees, yet on average they spend less than a week preparing to enter the academic job market.
According to Kevin Gue, faculty members in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Auburn University, the truth is that many outstanding doctoral candidates don't get the jobs (or even the interviews) they should because they lack knowledge and skill in personal marketing.
Gue, whose resume includes a five year stint as faculty recruiter for the Graduate School of Business & Public Policy at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., will share secrets to success in the job market in a one hour seminar that begins at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, in 202 Dunstan.
