E-mail Client

Is the Groupwise client the only option connecting to the Groupwise server?

No.  You can use any IMAP compliant email client to connect to the Groupwise server and read/compose/send messages.  Netscape Mail, Eudora, Outlook and Mozilla Mail among others, are all able to work with the Groupwise server.  However, it is highly recommended that if you are on a PC you use the Groupwise client software because it provides an integrated view of your mail, calendar and university wide address book.   Also, both OIT and ENS will be much more likely to have faced and solved any Groupwise client problem you might have.   If you are on a Mac, a Linux PC, or a Sun Solaris system, see below.

I use a MacOS/Linux/Solaris, how will I access Groupwise from my Mac/Linux/Solaris system?

There is Groupwise software available for all MacOS and Linux, however, these are not as robust as the software available for the PC.  It is suggested that if your current Mac/Linux/Solaris email software supports IMAP SSL, you continue to use it.

I use Eudora, can I continue to use it?

Eudora is IMAP SSL compliant and therefore can connect to the Groupwise server.   It has been suggested that because of Eudora's quirks that it is somewhat more difficult to get running and keep running.  But this has been the case with Engineering Mail as well.
