Unrestricted Giving

Unrestricted gifts are crucial to advancing the vision of the College of Engineering because they provide the dean with the flexibility to capitalize on opportunities and act as a buffer to short-term funding challenges. Each donor lets the college or individual department decide how best to use their gift.

There are two kinds of unrestricted support:

  • Annual gifts - fund current operations
  • Endowments - invested to produce a stream of unrestricted income over time

Dr. Larry Benefield

"Unrestricted gifts provide us with the flexibility to direct resources where they are most needed, when they are needed - be it an opportunity to hire a top-notch faculty member, recruit a student, provide matching funds for a grant, or send our winning student SAE Formula race team to Australia for an international competition."

Larry Benefield, Dean
Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
