How It Works

The university has agreed to match the annual earnings generated by endowed professorships established under this program - thereby creating the equivalent of a $300,000 endowment with an investment of only $150,000.

  • Your individual or corporate gift establishes a named professorship endowment with a contribution of $150,000 payable over a five-year period. This is half of the amount normally required to create such an endowment.
  • The university will add $7,500 annually to the earnings produced by the endowment, in perpetuity.
  • These professorships will help the college attract and retain exemplary, tenured full or associate professors.
  • Gifts to this professorship program must be committed by Sept. 30, 2009.
  • Pledges must be fulfilled within three to five years or no later than Sept. 30, 2014.
Professorship1

In today's education environment, universities and colleges find themselves in stiff competition to recruit and retain the most qualified faculty members. Top scholars are in high demand, and institutions that offer faculty support through endowed professorships are scoring a second look from potential faculty members. To continue to build a leading engineering program, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering must secure the resources necessary to attract and retain the most exceptional engineering educators and researchers.
