RecruitingOne of the keys to enhancing retention of minorities in engineering is an effective recruiting plan. The AT&T MEP is implementing the following strategy:

  • Identifying schools with strong academic programs in mathematics and science.
  • Developing a network of teachers and counselors sensitive to minority issues and who are willing to help.
  • Networking with community colleges that have traditionally provided a pool of students with a high potential for success.
  • Utilize the Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering (SECME) as a resource and their College Day forums to identify promising high school students.
