The primary objective of the AT&T Minority Engineering Program is to increase recruitment and enhance retention of under-represented engineering students at Auburn University.
This mission is accomplished through a series of academically based programs and activities. Also, other underrepresented minorities are encouraged to participate in the programs.
The retention programs especially target first year minority students because transitioning from high school to college presents some unique adjustment problems. Adjusting to a new environment and new culture can impact academic performance.
