The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University located in Auburn, Alabama (http://www.eng.auburn.edu) is seeking candidates for the position of postdoctoral fellow in engineering. Postdoctoral positions become available periodically under a variety of research grants and projects in the college. We are seeking applications from individuals with a Ph.D. in any one area of engineering such as aerospace, chemical, civil, computer science and software, electrical and computer, industrial and systems, mechanical, and polymer and fiber engineering. Also of interest are related fields of microelectronics, automotive electronics, microfibers, highway research, materials, asphalt technology, pulp and paper, transportation, detection and food safety, and information technology, as well as fields related to current research projects. The positions are available for a minimum of one year as full-time 12-month, with renewal possible. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. This tenure track appointment is to become effective in January 2010.
The department seeks outstanding candidates who have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or related field. The area of research is open, however preferred research areas include Biorefining, Pulp and Paper Engineering, and Second Generation Bioenergy and Biofuels. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to both excellent research and teaching. Teaching responsibilities include pulp and paper technology courses, bioenergy and biofuels courses, and chemical engineering courses in cooperation with the Alabama Center for Paper and Bioresource Engineering. Rank and salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department of Chemical Engineering has recently moved into the fully renovated Ross Hall and Wilmore Laboratories which provide cutting edge research, instructional and office space. These recent renovations have totaled $40 million in the last few years, thus providing state of the art facilities. The department maintains vibrant research programs with more than $5.5 million annually in sponsored research expenditures. The Department of Chemical Engineering currently has 20 full-time faculty, an undergraduate enrollment of 380 students and a graduate enrollment of more than 85 students, with the majority of these in our Ph.D. graduate program. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering has a combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment of nearly 4,000 students and courses in engineering have been taught at Auburn University since 1873. The National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University located in Auburn, Alabama is seeking a candidate for the position of Assistant Research Professor.
Appointment, review, and promotion in the research title series require demonstrated abilities to initiate and maintain a program of research or creative activity supported by contracts, grants or other designated funds. Appointees in the research title series are not eligible for tenure, but are eligible for promotion from Assistant Research Professor to Associate Research Professor, and from Associate Research Professor to Research Professor, in accordance with research-track faculty guidelines. All faculty in the research title series are appointed with a one year written contract that may be renewed annually. Promotion must occur by the end of the sixth year to continue employment.
The externally funded research program is to be in the area of asphalt pavements and should include published work in the following categories: asphalt materials testing and characterization, mechanistic modeling of flexible pavements, use of recycled materials in asphalt pavements, pavement performance evaluation, pavement management, tire-pavement interaction, and air and water quality issues related to asphalt pavements.
