Education
Providing undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students a team-based, systems-oriented, problem-solving education in engineering, biochemistry and the food sciences is our educational goal.
The objectives of the AUDFS education program are:
- to produce the next generation of industry scientists and leaders that has the requisite engineering/biology education for the food and related industries
- to involve undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty and industry scientists/engineers in cross-disciplinary research programs, educating students in systems-driven, team-oriented research
- to provide undergraduates, graduate students and industrial practitioners with the necessary breadth of background in adjoining technologies and specific information in a field to affect permanent changes through adoption of new technologies
- integrate the best of multimedia presentation and web-based technologies in course delivery, education and outreach
So far, these objectives have led our center to accomplish much, including:
- Over $1 million in funded educational projects (USDA & NSF funded)
- Streaming video and DVD for off-campus students
- Food Safety/Production Practitioners
- Credit for certification and advanced degrees
