Course Prerequisite Waiver Policy
COMP courses are given prerequisites and/or co-requisites to ensure that students will be able to meet the demands of the course as well as attain the maximum benefit from taking the course. Specific issues regarding course prerequisites include the following.
- Individual faculty members cannot grant waivers nor can they add, delete, or change the prerequisites for a course.
- Prerequisite waivers will only be considered in the case where groups of students are affected by changes in curriculum or through some related action of the Department or University.
- Circumstances such as scheduling conflicts and graduation delays are never sufficient grounds for granting a waiver.
- When a student withdraws from a course, regardless of reason, or makes a failing grade in a course, it is the student's responsibility to adjust their plan of study to remain on track for graduation. These circumstances are never sufficient grounds for granting a waiver.
