No need to squint; eye drops may soon be a thing of the past.

An Auburn team of biomedical engineers has developed a new method to deliver eye medication through contact lenses. These smartcontacts are the first to deliver a constant flow of antibiotics, antiinflammatories or anti-allergy drugs without changing your vision, or while correcting it. By engineering the lens chemistry and structure to create memory, the lenses are nearly 100 times more effective than medicated eye drops and can be worn as daily disposable lenses or for up to 30 days as extended wear lenses.
