Carnegie Mellon engineer to talk on microscopic mechanical testing

Maarten P. de Boer, associate professor in Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, will talk on microscopic mechanical testing on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 3:30 p.m. in 136 Ross Hall in the McMillan Auditorium. His presentation, “Micro- and Nanoscale Mechanical Testing,” will introduce micro- and nanomechanical systems technologies as well as discuss mechanical test systems.

De Boer earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado in electrical engineering. He earned a doctorate in mathematics and science from the University of Minnesota. His research interests include micro- and nanomechanics and the mechanics of materials.
