The Southern Regional Radon Training Center (SRRTC), is based in the Engineering
Continuing Education (ENGCE) was established as one of four regional radon training
centers in the United States. SRRTC is managed through Auburn University and
the ENGCE to provide assistance and training to the states of: Alabama, Arkansas,
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina,
Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
A primary function of SRRTC is to provide technical training courses related to radon measurement and mitigation for persons who wish to provide professional radon services. SRRTC also targets other groups for training about radon problems that may impact citizens in their homes, schools and workplaces. For instance, homebuilders are taught radon resistant new construction techniques and home inspectors are taught skills for inspecting radon mitigation systems during a typical home inspection.
