Welcome to E-Day -- February 24, 2012

We invite students considering a career in engineering to join us and feel the excitement of Alabama's premier engineering educational experience. Auburn Engineering's annual open house gives students a chance to learn about our campus, our programs and the incredible opportunities the college offers.

Middle and high school students have opportunities to chat one-on-one with students and faculty, experience interactive exhibits, and visit classes and labs, including the new Shelby Center. They can also tour the beautiful Auburn campus, and learn about admissions, scholarships, financial aid, and residence life.

2012 Spotlight — Wireless Engineering

Wireless EngineeringOver the past decade, wireless engineering has emerged as a major discipline within engineering. This field includes global wireless networks linking a wide variety of hand-held and other communicating devices, such as smart phones, IPads and computers; global positioning systems; and medical, transportation, manufacturing systems.

Wireless engineering is a joint program shared by two departments: Computer Science and Software Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering.  The program includes two tracks, one concentrating on the design of hardware and the other on the design of software for wireless devices and networks. Developed with the help of an advisory board comprised of top-level executives from the wireless industry, it is the first of its kind in the nation.
